What is Adorable Designs by Candice about?

Adorable Designs by Candice (AD) is a small design studio that creates custom party invitations & stationary with you, the customer, in mind. Our specialties include, but are not limited to, invitations and event stationary, fun party favors, unique gift pails, custom candy bars, personalized bottled water, custom tees and so much more. AD is truly where your fantabulous event begins.

What led you to start your business?

AD was created because I, Candice, absolutely love pretty & crafty things however I totally consider myself to be a “Coupon Diva”. I firmly believe that you shouldn’t have to spend a million to make anything look like a million. Times are a little rough, and like me, people still have a taste for great parties and events. AD was created and molded to provide custom products and outstanding services for a reasonable price so that people can still enjoy themselves during our economic situation and beyond.

How can your service help people find their Lifestyle Zen?

AD services can help you find your Lifestyle Zen by providing a reasonably priced service that can enhance both your personal and professional lives. Personally,  sometimes you want have a nice gathering with friends that is lavish but easy on the pockets. Professionally, you could be a small business owner looking for a unique and inexpensive way to brand your company and your product. With us you can be the “Hostess with the Mostest” or a local business whose branding speaks for itself. We constantly offer package specials for our clients.

What are the most valuable lessons you've learned as a business owner?

The power of networking:  Although friends and family are sometimes your BIGGEST supporters, there are other people within your reach, yet outside of your immediate circle, who could benefit from your services. Networking and meeting new people can open so many new doors and resources you may not have thought of. A smile and small conversation can create unlimited possibilities.

Competition is healthy for good business:  When a new kid shows up on the block don’t get intimidated and don't get distracted. Instead, keep an eye out for what’s going on within your industry- new trends, specials, and even prices. Remember,  there is enough "pie" for everyone. If you want the biggest piece of it, you have to strive to always be on top of things and know what’s going on around you.

Know your worth: You are in the business to make money: Because I love making beautiful things, sometimes, it was hard to put a price on them. However, I love my family, sleep, and myself just as much. So, I slowly but surely, realized that running a business is different from a hobby. If you want to offer discounts or specials periodically that’s great, but remember your time and talents are valuable.

What is the greatest challenge that you have faced?

The downturn of the economy, of course. Although AD offers great services and products at low prices, we are in a major competition with Mr. ComEd, Mrs. Nicor, Uncle AT&T, etc. We strive hard to provide weekly specials and “Pink Lyte” deals that can’t be passed up. AD knows when times get better, our customers will remember our commitment to customer service and talent. They will choose AD to make their parties standout and FANTABULOUS.
