LZ Round Up: Where to Go This Weekend + Valentine’s Day

feb 11-13: sizzling performance by the river north chicago dance company

The annual Valentine's Weekend Engagement will feature Al Sur del Sur (World Premiere), a sizzling suite of tangos choreographed by Argentinean stars Sabrina & Ruben Veliz; Duets, a combination of Artistic Director Frank Chaves’ most passionate, sensual and playful pairings; and Sherry Zunker’s sultry Evolution of a Dream, set to Sweet Dreams by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart and his Rock Fabulous Orchestra. Plus, other favorites from the RNDC repertoire will take the stage, including: Beat (Ashley Roland), Love Will Follow (Frank Chaves); as well as excerpts from Robert Battle's Train, and Frank Chaves' Forbidden Boundaries.

feb 12: wine making class and dinner with BevArt

Make your special someone wine and enjoy a specially prepared gourmet dinner by the Harvest Grill executive chefs of the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile and wine tasting. Each couple will make their own 6-gallon vat of wine (25 to 30 bottles). Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir to Cabernet can be made. Wine will be fermented at Bev Art/ Wild Blossom Winery cellar and monitored by our wine makers. In addition, each couple will blend their own bottle of wine that night and take home to age or consume. A grape stomp for couples with prizes for the best stompers will get the juices flowing. Ten weeks later wine will be ready for bottling. You're invited to come back to the Marriott for a special bottling session, bottle at BevArt or the wine can be bottled for you at an additional cost. Price includes wine making experience, dinner and bottling session at the downtown Marriott. Cost per couple is $199.00 plus cost of wine juice and supplies.

feb 12-14: latin feast and salsa dancing at nacional 27

Our exotic Latin cuisine, seductive cocktails and sultry salsa dancing make us the perfect pick for Valentine’s Day dining. On this special occasion the restaurant is offering two prix-fixe options for the Valentine's weekend, which will be served on Saturday, February 12, Sunday, February 13 and Monday, February 14. The first seating, available from 5-6:30 p.m. on all nights, offers a three-course menu (signature tapas platter, choice of main course and dessert) for $39 per person. The second option, available from 7-10:30 p.m. on Saturday and 7-9:00 p.m. on Sunday & Monday, offers a four-course menu (signature tapas platter, salad, choice of main course and dessert), plus a festive signature El Corazon aperitif, for $59 per person. Salsa dancing will be available on Saturday, a live band will performance on Sunday, and a red rose will be provided for each table on Monday.

Adina Rosenberg, a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, will lead you in a shiatsu acupressure routine. The art of Acupressure, an age old method of relaxation, is healing and helps to support continuous flow of our internal energy. You will learn valuable and pleasurable skills that will enable you to ease stress, relax, aid sleep, gain trust and treat each other. The cost of this workshop is $60/couple and pre-registration is required.
